About Dr. Brennan

John J. Brennan, MD is a native of Brooklyn, NY and has been living and practicing in Suffolk County, Long Island since 1999.  He attended medical school at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and did his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at St. Lukes/ Roosevelt Hospital Center in Manhattan.

His practice primarily focuses on problems related there the knee, shoulder and hip.  He has a particular interest in rotator cuff problems because he has had his own rotator cuff issues and has even had surgery on both shoulders.  As he likes to say: 'He knows rotator cuff problems from both sides of the conversation".

Dr. Brennan is double board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports medicine.  He treats athletes ranging from high school, college and professional levels to the weekend warrior.

Although he does a lot of surgery, his goal is to try and find ways to help patients with their problems without surgery.  And if surgery is needed, using the most minimally invasive techniques, working towards the most rapid and complete recovery possible.  He has been voted "Best Orthopedic Surgeon in The Hamptons" in Dan's Papers for ten straight years.

Dr. Brennan feels that patients should be as informed as possible about their orthopedic conditions and is always lookin for ways to help educate them.  His new book "Knee Arthritis" is a product of that commitment to patient education.

A huge part of the new book is related to inflammation and how it is the source of most of our painful problems.  Check out our page on inflammation.
